In Blogger Affair the artist embodies an allegedly influencer called ‘the materialist’, who, by undergoing everyday situations, reveals the precarious professional life which she faces, partly caused by the expansion of online work (Terranova, 2001) and the transformation of cities such as Bilbao, which departed from an industrial model towards a cultural one.
The pieces that integrate Blogger Affair operate as a system of derivative products from the main character: a stage made with shower curtains, a fashion collection which reads “BECOMING POOR IS NOT AN EVENT, IT’S A PROCESS”, a perfume based on the one by Kim Kardashian but with the shape of the artist’s body, a reality show in which we exclusively see scenes where the main character works, or a work overall which copies the pattern of the original clothing of the Euskalduna shipyard workers. All these elements are re-signified thanks to the use of “poor” materials, which add layers to an apparently accessible project.
Becoming poor is not an event,
It's a process
